Great list, great article, especially in these financially challenging times! Eating out with kids can be very expensive, especially because it is hard to say “no” sometimes, to deserts, extras and what not, and not only from a responsible (grand)parent-view, as J. Taylor pointed out.

I agree with Stefan that I'd prefer my 3 grandchildren be taught good eating habits right from the start, that's how they eat when the visit their two DP grandafathers here, but I also think that your list could very well serve as a "once a month treat" so that they learn that eating out in moderation isn't bad either. Taking them out to eat provides the opportunity to show them how to make good eating decisions even at restaurants and not just at home, then when they're out with their friends they'll have the knowledge to decide for themselves what to order... of course, there needs to be a lesson or two about resisting peer pressure and the "in-crowd" as well, or else it's a lost cause. Thanks for the article!!

Hmmm, not so sure about this one. Healthy options are better options especially when it comes to eating habits and kids. Teach them young, I say.

hmm... that is really interesting. This would be nice if the quality of food is OK. Do you still feel parents would bring their kids for free foods with these places?
