Two new productivity tools I like

08.31.2008 by Bob 5 comments

I am a sucker for saving time. It is like a slight obsession to me. I remember discussing with a friend of mine strategies for how we could shave minutes off our morning routines. Brushing my teeth while in the shower was one of the failed, yet humorous, attempts to save time.

Introducing the Christian Financial Forums

08.28.2008 by Bob 9 comments

I have been wanting to start forums for a while, but have just finally gotten around to it. You can access the Christian Financial Forums by clicking on the link. You can get your questions answered in the forums
Part of the reason is that while I love getting personal and specific financial questions from everyone, sometimes there is a lot to be gained by hearing multiple opinions. Proverbs says that there is safety in the multitude of counselors. The forums will provide a great opportunity for that. You can ask a quick question and get responses from any of the members.

My tithing experience

08.24.2008 by Bob 77 comments

I don’t exactly remember when I started to tithe – probably about 7-8 years ago. But I do remember getting a new job that was nearly double my previous income and thinking, “Wow, so this is the result of tithing.” It was a helpful lesson to me since I was, like most, skeptical about the whole thing. I had heard about all the scandals with TV preachers and kind of grew up with a cynical attitude towards giving to the church. Somewhere along the line I decided to “take a chance” and try it out.

Does your bag have holes? – Giveaway

08.22.2008 by Bob 40 comments

Does your bag have holes? I got a copy of this book from Cameron C Taylor, the author, a few months back. I have been a bit behind on my reading and am just now getting around to reading it. I am not quite done with the book and I plan on doing a more thorough review when I finish. But, for now I really like the book and have gotten a lot of good revelation about the money and some of the underlying truths that many people are not aware of. Basically, Cameron lays out 24 common myths and dispells them with the Bible, some (not so common) common sense, and some persuasive arguments. I am really enjoying it, so I decided it would make a perfect giveaway for this week!

“In God we trust” on our bills?

08.20.2008 by Bob 22 comments

MSNBC is doing a survey to see if people want “In God we trust” on our bills. As of Monday night there were over 2.5 million responses showing that 60% were still voting to keep it on the bills. The thought of removing it is so laughably foolish to me. I mean is it not evident to everyone in the world that the U.S. has been extremely blessed since it started a few centuries ago? It wasn’t our doing – it was God’s. We founded this country on Biblical principles, were blessed as a result, now 40% of the country wants to do away with even the smallest mention of God on our dollar bills. Wow.

What is the difference between frugal and cheap?

08.18.2008 by Bob 12 comments

Is he frugal or cheap? Growing up you realize that people have completely different definitions for frugal and cheap. Some people consider not wanting to waste money as someone who is cheap. And some people say that someone who refuses to tip waitresses is frugal. Let’s see what Webster has to say about it…
