Finishing up the NRFU phase this week and got invited to move on to the next phase. Problem is my CL is mum on what that entails. She only said I'll need a vehicle. While today is the official "lay-off" for my district I will now get re-assignments for the incomplete binders for those who aren't moving on. Anyone know what exactly the next phase is besides finishing out pastdue binders? Supposedly the 2010 Census will be in operation until December. Might this next phase last that long (fingers crossed)?

P.S. I live in Philly so obviously our neighborhoods are densely populated enough that vehicles weren't required up 'til now. Therfore it has to be something other than enumerating.

Well, I just completed my life as a federal employee and as a Census Enumerator and I'd have to say it was a pretty good experience. Training went well, in a very professional environment, hey your paid and you get those miles! After training we did a trial run and then hit the street. Understanding the overall goal is to hit 1-2 an hour, for the whole program, the number you completed really varied. My prime time was from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM on weekdays and on Saturdays. I developed a system where I put together a Excel spreadsheet to track the houses in my book. As I completed each day, I'd re-save the file and delete the ones that were completed. I'd also mark them off in the book, as trained. I also had a clip board rubber banded to my AA binder to hold the survey forms. The best part is you met people from all walks of life, most participated, out of probably 80 completed I had 2 complete refusals.

I asked about holiday pay and they clearly stated NO but all are expected to work. We are winding down here and are probably finished in three weeks.

Why do those of you who were lucky enough to be hired, come to this board to pour out your problems of your personal employment? This board has nothing official to do eith the Census....it was just put here for info for all who were looking for work with the Census...and for those who didn't to come here and say so...but the whining on here is not real bright, people.

I sure am tired of reading how "super intelligent" some of you seem to think you are...big deal...I also am a college grad, worked in law enforcement, can do fingerprinting...so I don't consider any of you any better than me...

Just had to get this off my chest...

And now, as I promised a month ago, I have no need to come back here...lol...enjoy your part-time job while you have it...

Adios! Syonara! Ariva Derci Roma...(that last one is just a wild guess...hehehe)

Hi! I am currently an Enumerator for the 2010 Census. Myself and many members of my team are wondering if we will be eligible for unemployment. We have been working since 4/27 and have told that this week 5/24-5/29 will be our last week. We are in Kentucky. I have heard all kinds of stuff but no real verification either way. Anyone know? Also, I can answer questions for those you interested.

The way the Census info.has been collected in this small rural community in South Georgia is a joke and not even a close count will be recorded. Reason being these supervisor and crew leader positions are being filled by those who only want a check. They do not have the training and mostly the intelligence to do the job.Think about this and what the census means to your small community. They spend 24 hours at most training for these positions. The enumerators those who go door to door are turned loose to go get those of us who didn't mail the questionnaire back. They are given maps and addresses and are told to add any that may have been missed. Here is the catch their unskilled and ignorant crew leaders do not encourage the adding of misses houses, apartments etc. This is a direct quote from a Crew Leader in South West Georgia."They gonna stop adding and do just what they is asking for in that binder." Who is this hurting all of us who live in small rural communities. We have a very shallow gene pool to pull from. Those that are competent of running the operation either have a full time job or are enumerators being guided by ignorance..Something is very wrong with this picture when you have a retired school superintendent, the retired director of the family and children services, two retired school teachers and a retired tax assessor being supervised by someone that has no high school diploma what do you expect...this is our government for you..I

I HAVE A QUESION WHAt DO YOU DO WHEN YOUR CREW LEADER ATTEMPTS TO LAY YOU OFF BECAUSE YOU CHEATED YOURSELF OUT OF 15MIN ON YOUR TIME SHEET SO SHE WRITES YOU UP. THEN SHE PREVIOUSLY WROTE YOU UP BECAUSE YOU PREVIOSLY HAD A BLOOD TEST SCHEDULED THE LAST DAY OF TRAINING WHICH WAS SCHEDULED PRIOR TO YOUR HIRE DATE & START DATE
,BESIDE YOU PREINFORMED YOUR CL,TOLD HER YOUR APPOINTMENT AT THE HOSPITAL WAS FOR 9:30AM YOU DID NOT FINISH UNTIL 1O:30 WITH YOUR LABWORK .
WHICH ALLOW YOU DRIVING TIME & YOU ARRIVED BACK @11PM.
NOW YESTERDAY A 10:30AM MEETING WAS SET TO MEET AT A REGULAR CC LOCATION . I knew I WAS GOING TO RUNNING LATE SO I CALLED 15 MIN TO THE HOUR.AS WELL AS 10:30 SHE TO HAD NO PHONE OR PH SERVICE AS WELL,,I arrive at the coffee shop in my car i could see no one at our regular table which was our regular meeting about 10:48am i didnt see her and she didnt have a phone either,so i proceeded to pay my ph because my ph was off too.,& i knew how important it is to have a ph a resident could have been trying to retun a nv . so i returned to the location where we had regular meeting @1:30 & i was told that she was there &but she was not at our regular table in another location at the shop now i being lay off. is there a way i could have this disagreement resolved,is there an appeal process.
when your 1st evaluation was great, and your work conduct is what is expected after the first week out.and you've completed 29 eqs,,,and several home visits.,with no complaints. please help i really need this job o pay my rent 1395.00 per month plus a car note, insurance, cell ph,than theres food,.
so can you guide me in the right direcion on what are the proper steps?

thanks
