Although we're among the richest 1% in the world, we get less vacation and time off to enjoy our families than in most places on Earth. In most European countries the law mandates workers get minimum 4-6 weeks of vacation annually when they start and nobody can be required to work more than 48 hours per week. Many countries have standard 35 hour work weeks, while here we work our people to oblivion.
Take a break and spend your time with your family or at least volunteer. Don't let your vacation days go unused. When you're on your deathbed you won't be sorry you didn't work more. Most people regret they didn't spend more time with their family.

Very awesome perspective. I've always kept in mind of how high our standard of living is, particularly in the U.S. as it relates to many in the world. But I haven't really thought of just the sheer increases in technology, automation, and living standards have made it to where we are more comfortable than ever before.

I never thought about the fact that we can buy things Rockefeller never had! (Incidentally, my mother-in-law's grandparents were some of his servants.) I do, however, frequently remind my husband that we are rich compared to most of the people in the world.

Realizing how much we have instead of looking at what we don't have makes a huge difference in our attitudes and also makes us more generous toward those who are truly in need.

Thanks!! You know it is easy to look at the negatives in life, so I use whatever I can to help me stay focused on how blessed I really am!!

[...] The Truth of Credit wrote an interesting post today onHere’s a quick excerpt This is a reprint of an article I wrote for GetRichSlowly a week ago… John D. Rockefeller founded the Standard Oil company back in 1862. He was also the first to become a billionaire, and was one of the richest men to ever live. I am sure many people today wish they could have walked in his shoes. If, somehow they could, I think some would find it to be eye-opening. How could I possibly be richer than John D. Rockefeller? With as wealthy as he was, he could have had anything that money could [...]
