8 great careers for the future

by Bob on June 28, 2009

I read an article on Yahoo in which they discuss 8 career paths that are expected to continue growing in demand. The data is from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and they expect the government spending to help stimulate the growth of these industries.

There will always be trends in jobs and I think that should be taken with a grain of salt, but it is a good idea to take a look at the career path you have planned and make sure it will be around in the future. Are you going to school to be a VCR technician?

According to the BoLS, these are some of the best jobs for the future…

Click Yahoo’s article about the best careers for the future to see them all, but these were a few that were included in the list with strong growth potential…

  • Network Administrators
  • Accountants and Auditors
  • Registered Nurse
  • HVAC Technicians

Thoughts?

Are you in any of these career fields? Do you see growth and job opportunities for the future like they do?

I’m an accountant with a lot of experience and this is the second time in less than 10 years that I have been downsized. So I disagree that accounting is a career for the future – or maybe I am just being discirminated against because of age. I cannot find an accounting job. The country is in a depression and no one is hiring. These lists do not mean anything; no job or career field is safe.

Being downsized two times in less than 10 years is much better than most people’s luck.

one big mistake job seekers make is choosing a career based on salary or what it may be doing in the future.

When picking a job, the best thing you can do is choose something that fits your personality, skills, and interests….
