As you stated, they have sentimental value and it's something they can treasure. I do not like buying gifts, just to buy a gift. If it's not useful, I'd rather not purchase it as it becomes junk for the receiver. I'll start to think of some gift traditions I can start for my own family. Most of us have the means to at least buy <i>some</i> of the things we want. I really appreciate thoughtful gifts at this time of year. Like Patrick, however, I do remember the gift I received on my 7th birthday—a Nintendo Gameboy. My family was not rich growing up. But my parents went all out for us on Christmas. I remember a LOT of the gifts I recieved. Sega genesis and gameboy in 1989. A scooter when I was 6 and still couldn't ride a bike, A vast amount of comic books when I starting collecting them. etc. Unfortunetly the things I remember the most are what I didn't get!! lol, One year for my birthday all I got were clothes and a yellow Fivel watch. And the Christmas when I was 17, I litterally got nothing and they gave my present to my brother! I never let them live that one down. Am I wrong, or do the three kids sound really ungrateful?
