Getting Started Series
First I want to thank everyone for the great feedback I received about the series. It was great hearing from so many of you about how it helped!
If you have feedback (good or bad) or ideas to make the course more helpful send me an email – I want to hear your ideas!
When I return (more on this in a minute) I will organize the series in an easily digestible format for those who want to go through the whole thing. But for now you can access all the posts in the series by clicking here.
201 Course on Blogging
Part of what is going to make this break (see below) so refreshing is the fact that is follows a crazy hectic January that included the launching of my (and Jonathan’s) 201 Blogging Course.
The course is designed to help new to medium-sized bloggers increase their traffic, improve their social media presence, and make more money from their blogs.
If you are a blogger you can find out more here or if you are interested in starting a blog you can check out the 101 Course.
Taking an Internet Break
Last year I took a break at the beginning of the year to spend some time praying about the new year and get focused on my goals for the year. It was a very rich and rewarding experience and so I will probably make a habit of it.
So I am taking off for February to do the same thing. To keep myself in check, I am not going to touch a computer the entire month. Pretty ambitious – I know. I will be checking email from my phone once a week, but (for obvious reasons) will only be responding to the critical and timely emails until March. I am starting to feel like Tim Ferriss.
Needless to say, John and all the other great writers will keep things up and running while I try to live like they did 100 years ago.
And CPF has been recently featured in the following Carnivals:
Wealth, Personal Finance, Financial Camaraderie, Taxes, Personal Finance, Frugality, Camaraderie, Wealth, Frugality

Good luck in February. See you in March.
I just wonder how people do their paying of bills and their budgeting that I’ve been learning from your lessons that you’ve been sending. I’m all about the computer when it comes to my finances so I don’t see how I could take a break for a month. I pay certain bills at different times of the month and I need to monitor how it’s going so I don’t get into trouble.
I think that Bob has probably prepared in advance for his break from the internet. Most likely, he has paid his bills in advance, written out any information he’ll have to refer to, and delegated things to take place in February he’d normally do himself. Hope that helps!
John, you hit the nail on the head. I just paid all my bills yesterday for the whole month. And marianne, like I talked about in the first Getting Started lesson I pay all my bills on only 2 days each month, the 1st and 15th, and so this month I just did them all on one day.
Wow.. that is quite an internet fast!! I wish you the best.
Best of luck on your internet fast and looking forward to more refreshing insights once you return.
Hi Bob,
The one question came to my mind for which I got the answer after reading your last Paragraph.
Glory to the Almighty God.
Rohit
What a great idea Bob! What an example for all of us to spend time in prayer and focus in on God. I hope that the Lord reveals his will for the things you pray about and more. God bless!
Thanks everyone – it will definitely be difficult to stay off the computer that long – because I may be addicted
– but I know it is what I need to do and it will be a good thing!
Computer fast?! I may try that for myself in the future! Good luck. Thank you for all your great advice……keeps me on my toes!
Very interesting. As a Christian in the internet workplace, I have never thought about doing this. It makes total sense, and I actually really like the idea of that. I wonder what the team will do if we shut down the operation of some of our big websites due to fasting from the internet. I will be praying for you during this time. Keep up the great work.
