Do you want to be in Money Magazine?

Money Magazine is writing a faith and finances articlemoney magazine.jpg

Apparently Money Magazine is looking for “people of faith” to see how they manage their finances. I was interviewed by SmartMoney magazine for something similar a few months back. There seems to be an interest in how faith affects our finances – I wonder why? ;)

If you are interested in getting involved, read this from Money Mag below…

How does your religion affect your finances? Money Magazine is seeking families willing to discuss the dollars-and-cents expenses involved in practicing their faith – the cost of everything from religious schools and dietary restrictions to tithing and faith-based investment limitations. If interested, please email your name, contact information and family photo, along with a brief summary of your salary, savings and religion-related expenses, to gmannes@moneymail.com.

Money magazine has published a lot of articles that where flat out wrong – just like most of the financial media.

Here are few examples;

Why acting bearish is a dumb move
http://money.cnn.com/2008/04/29/pf/funds/acting_bearish.moneymag/index.htm?postversion=2008043009

A strong case for market optimism

They don’t seem to know what they are talking about, and I doubt they will understand how Christian values guide personal financial planning. It seems like they will publish anything that they believe people are interested in reading at the time.

As a Christian, I’m not sure I want to take part in an organization who wants to use Christian values just to increase sales in a time of need.

@Curt
you may have a good point – I think it just depends on the situation – it may be a great opportunity for Jesus to be lifted up. Paul talked in the Bible about how he wasn’t really phased by those preaching the gospel with impure motives. Because, even though they weren’t doing it with the right intentions, Jesus was still becoming more famous… This could be the case with this article…
