Default Anyone using Google Chrome yet?

I just heard about Google's new web browser called Chrome -

it looks to have some interesting new features, I was wondering if anyone has tried it out yet...

I have installed and used Google Chrome for 2 days now. Has a nice look to it. I really don't see much difference between it and Firefox. I plan on using it for the next couple of weeks. So far no problems.

it seems alright, I've noticed a few quirks and I'm sure there are more to be discovered as it's still in beta. I'll stick with firefox for now.

I put it on my Vista laptop the other day and it's pretty slick. I ended up wiping that laptop the next day, though, so I haven't had too much exposure yet. I think I will really start to enjoy it when the multi-process tabs come into play. Too many times I've had a browser crash with 10 tabs open because of one bad webpage that locked up.

My main machine is a Mac, though, so I'm anxiously waiting for the mac beta version to be released.

    Paul,

Firefox should remember your open tabs if it crashes. You can also set it to remember your open tabs on close and it'll open them all back up when you re-launch...

I just saw this article about some interesting things in Chrome's TOS. Did you read what you agreed to when you installed it? I didn't

I downloaded Chrome on my laptop a few days ago and have been using it a bit... it does have some nice features, but I do miss the Firefox plugins, and ironically I miss the google toolbar

@matt - i know about the tab thing. i gave that feature a try for a couple of weeks one time, and i didn't really fit my style. something about the way it would always pull up my last page was annoying to me. maybe it's just me. regardless, i love the way Chrome lays out the "homepage" when you open it. Granted, they stole the graphical concept from Opera (and Opera may have stolen it from somewhere else, but I know Opera has been great about boosting new trends in the market, like tabbed browsing), but it's a great way to load a homepage.

@bob - i will try to come back and post here when i can get my hands on the Mac version. in the meantime, you can visit www.google.com/chrome on a mac and sign up for a notification from Google when it is ready.

I am happy to report back after using Chrome for several days on my newly reinstalled laptop running Server 2008. Chrome is screaming fast, and I have only found one site that is not compatible, and that site is Evernote. this isn't a huge deal for me, since I haven't used Evernote that much, it's just something I noticed. Also, Georgia Tech's Zimbra webmail system thinks I'm using a dumb browser and doesn't let me use the Advanced zimbra interface, I'm stuck on the Basic mode. From what I understand, GT could throw a flag a certain way in the configuration and it would work, so I'm just waiting on that to get fixed now.

Otherwise, Chrome is great. There's no huge reason to switch from Firefox, but I'm "that guy" that likes to download new toys all the time.

I've been using it off and on as well and I really like it. I'm so used to using firefox that I am tending to use that more right now though. I also have noticed a few bugs in Chrome. Maybe when it gets out of beta I'll use it more.

Yea, the more I use it, the more I like it, but I don't think I will ever be a regular user if they don't allow plugins, I just have way too many plugins that I use in firefox... Does anyone know if this is something that they are planning on adding?

It's hard for me as a Christian to support Google who shows prejudice against us and supports causes we don't believe in. Personal opinion only, if you like Google - everyone is entitled to their opinion.

    Simonize,
can you give a bit more detail of what you are referring to?

I have been using google chrome for a few months now and thoroughly enjoy it. Becuase I like to do a lot of research I find it quick and easy compared to IE or firefox. I am still having trouble opening certain websites and some websites that do open do not have all the information in them but I guess that's why they call it beta.

Looking forward to when they get all the quirks out...

I have install Chrome and will occasionally use it, especially when I make updates to my website just to make sure I am covering all my bases. I just can't seem to give up on FF3.

I think google Chrome could be really good in a few years, but it will take a lot to pass Firefox. Firefox had it easy since IE was so bad.

I have used it a few times and it is really nothing special yet, i agree with bob that it really needs plugins.
