My name is Wendell Stinnett. I am a beginning blogger and I have a dream of assisting small groups or individuals without and Internet presence promote their good works and in turn inspire others to donate small amounts, one dollar in most cases. I believe that a million people giving a dollar is possible by leveraging the power and reach of social media. My blog site is: http://oldpathsrevisited.wordpress.com

Dear Mr. President:
I want to tell you about a note & a nickel. I’m writing a bit longer note & I will be sending you 20 nickels to invest in the 5 cent miracle program. Then, I have a personal note, which, I hope, is worth at least a plugged nickel.

The first note reads:
“Dear Chaplain McCabe:
I am glad that you are getting a million dollars
for missions. I send you five cents to help, and if
you want any more , just write to me.
CHARLES CARDWELL McCabe Howe”

This note, written by a 4-year-child, with the help of his mother, was leveraged many times by Bishop McCabe in his fund-raising campaigns titled “A Million For Missions” (1884 to about 1906).

I am inspired by that note and that nickel. Because of the faith exhibited by that child’s note, I’m launching a campaign to raise 100 million dollars by the end of this decade, December 31, 2019. The funds raised will be used “for good.” While I am motivated by my faith, this is not a faith-centric only endeavor. My criterion for inclusion in the 5 cent miracle program is, people-to-people, joining hands for good.

I am interested in supporting and promoting small projects, primarily in the $50 – $50,000 range. In cases where facilities are the goal: $500,000. I want to help people who have dreams, but no budget. I want to help those who have a great plan, but no Internet presence, or means of reaching out to a wider audience for support.

It is my dream to leverage the power of social media to move many people, perhaps 500,000 people, to invest a dollar too. Even if a quarter million people can be inspired to give just one dollar per week consistently, over 2 billion dollars could be raised for good. I’m proposing to raise a fraction of this amount with the 5 cent miracle program. With your help, I believe that people can be persuaded to give a few nickels, which by themselves are of little value, but coupled together with the nickels of neighbors and friends, become a great flowing, churning, roaring river of good.

I realize that what I’m proposing is audacious, but I know you understand that. So, I’m writing to you for your help with the 5 cent miracle program. I’m enclosing two dollars, will you invest one back into one of the 5 projects listed below? Will you also mention this program if you find merit in it. Will you consider viewing my blog site where this program is outlined in more detail? The URL is: http://oldspathsrevisited.wordpress.com.

I think also of President John F. Kennedy’s speech, May 25, 1961, where he proposed an audacious plan to place a man on the moon and bring him safely home again by the end of the decade. That dream lived on a July day in 1969. So, 50 years removed from the that announcement of dream, I dream a dream too. I’m just one small, ordinary man, but joined with other men and women of vision and dreams we can do great things.

Here’s three examples from the Seed Need‘s blog page project list now. I have room for 100 more projects; I will send them a dollar too. As projects complete, I will roll them from the list and add others.

Matt & Haley Taylor Pittsburg, TX
Matt & Haley began fostering in March of 2005 and during the last 6 years have had 25 children in their home. 13 of those have been drug-addicted infants. 20 have been under the age of 2. They have adopted 3 children who were drug addicted at birth and have seen God do many miraculous things in their lives. Matt & Haley once had a pediatrician tell them, “When I find out that one of my babies is with you, I breathe a sigh of relief because I know they are going to be OK. What do you do with these babies? Because they always seem to get better when they are with you!” Matt told him we love them and pray for them. He just said, “Well it works!”They are pastors of a growing church, they need another building. They are at a point of turning people away because they simply do not have room to place them. It’s people with their kind of heart, that I want to help. I’m sending a dollar.

Ron & Betty Huffman Fort Worth, TX
Every Saturday evening about 5, Ron Huffman fires up the engine on his old creaky faded-yellow school bus and heads out to spots where Fort Worth’s homeless gather. He has a simple offer: Climb aboard and you’ll head back to his storefront ministry for a hot meal. They are not formally affiliated with any church and pay most of the monthly operating costs out of their own pockets. Huffman said the urge to help the homeless struck him years ago. “I got tired of just sitting in church. I wanted to get out and do something,” he said. A dollar invested here, goes a long way. They could sure use a reliable bus. I’m sending a dollar.

Curtis & Brenda Evans Lake Worth, TX
On October 1, 2005, the Evan’s only son, 23-year-old Brandon, was killed in a car crash by a drunk driver. Curtis & Brenda did not give up, but persevered through their grief. Curtis wrote his thoughts down in the form of letters to his son. “Letters to Brandon” is now a book, containing those 58 heartfelt letters, which detail in a heart-rending manner the Evan’s journey through the grieving process. Curtis gives some helps in dealing with grief and for those who are helping someone deal with grieving a tragic loss. Proceed from the book sales are 100% donated to building a Life Center in memory of Brandon. I’m reading the book, and I’m sending a dollar.

Now, the personal note:
I’m praying for you. I can only imagine the pressure you must experience in your house. Among them, I’d think, is living in the same house with a mother-in-law. Any man who does that needs the help of the good Lord.
