what kind of music do you like?

This is the anything goes section, right? So what sort of music do you enjoy listening to? Who are your favorite musicians?

I mostly like electronic music. mostly downtempo/chillout/lounge stuff but I also enjoy a range from trance to ambient. Musicians/artists/groups I especially like are: BT, Hybrid, Shpongle, Chicane, and Banco de Gaia

I also enjoy the occasional rock artist but that's not as often. Most recently Anberlin as well as Switchfoot and Plumb

For me, I actually am into Chillout a bit and Trance a bit too. I am a fan of BT, but haven't heard of the others. I would say that Brit Rock is generally my fav. I am a huge Coldplay fan, I also dig John Mayer, and have gotten into Jazz over the last couple years. As far as worship music, I really have liked Jason Morant and Delirious...

Oh, and I am a huge fan of Christmas, so just about any Christmas music is pure Joy!

If you like chillout, trance, and BT then I highly recommend Hybrid and Chicane. Banco De Gaia is also good but a bit out there and Shpongle is definitely way out there but a lot of fun if you like craziness.

Daft Punk are fairly unique in their sound. One similar artist I like is Codebreaker, they've also got that disco-funk electronica. Some other kinda similar artists are Mylo, Soul Hooligan, and Mint Royale. Justice is also supposed to be similar but I haven't heard much from them.

I'm a jazz fan as well, and I love the blues. The artists who's music has really moved me the past few years is John Mayer. That guy's guitar playing just hits me...he can really nail blues/jazz. Mayer's music has greatly influenced my guitar playing. For those of you who still think all he does is stuff like "Your Body is a Wonderland," take another look.

I love blue-grass/new-grass and other styles that incorporate the mandolin. I picked up the mandolin a couple of years ago because of Chris Thile of Nickel Creek. I would dare say that he's the best prominent mandolinist out there today. He covers a gamut of musical genres from jazz, blues, folk, pop, classical, and more. His interpretations of Bach are simply amazing.

I also really enjoy bands/artists like Coldplay, Kings of Leon, The Strokes, The Myriad, Muse, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan...etc.

When it comes to praise and worship, I dig bands/artists like Leeland, Hillsong, Hillsong United, Chris Tomlin, Darrel Evans, Delirious, Desperation Band...etc.

I know I've left plenty off the list -- there are just too many. It may not seem like it, but I'm also very picky with my music. Even most of the artists I listed above, have plenty of songs I don't like.

Lately I've been more into Christian rock like Fireflight and Skillet than I am the lighter Christian stuff although I still enjoy it as well.
Rock and alternative have always been my favorite, they were the first kind of music I really got into.

I've only heard Godspeed, at least that I know of being them(I've been listening to The Blast .FM through ITunes) but I thought it was pretty good.
I've been really enjoying The Blast, dont always look to see who is playing but I'd say I like at least 80% of the songs played enough that if I did buy music(I just listen to the radio or songs I already do have to save money and not get more clutter, already got too much stuff), I would probably buy theirs.

I like a lot of different Christian contempory artists. I listen to a number of them while working out. Toby Mac and the Newsboys have great workout music. Anyone have any other ideas for christian artists whose music would be good as workout music (a good fast beat).

Music is one of my favourite things in life! I'm into anything that gives me the "chill" factor and it can come from just about any genre. I know it's cliche but I just like good music. Period. One thing I do struggle with though, particularly when listening to secular music is how a lot of good songs are tainted by ungodly lyrics.

I listen to other stuff too. Pretty much the only stuff I can't stand to listen to is Country music, and Lord please forgive me but really old hymns. It's aweful I know, but I just can't stand it when we break out Amazing Grace in Church.

Anyhoo, I've recently discovered amiestreet.com for finding good underground music that is either free or really dirt cheap. They've got some good christian stuff on there.

I love 80's rock - what can I say, lol. But I also love listening to Christian Rock - I usually have it on Positive Hits in the car. I've a very eclectic taste as long as it's not rap or whiny bluegrass, lol. Love Polkas (Comes from growing up in Germany!!) and even opera.

I only lisen to gospel music and not gospel rock. I have my car radio set to FM 88.1 Joy FM. I attended a church service several years ago and the pastor said he did not allow his children to listen to secular music. If we were listening to it, he prayed that God would convict us and make a change. I was convicted and I made that change. Afterall, we are a peculiar group and are to separate ourselves from the world.
