    Default Tithing iPhone App

For all the iPhone users out there, here is a tool to help you give to your church via your phone...

MyTithe is a mobile application currently available only for Iphone (soon in Blackberry) designed to help churches receive the tithe givings from their members even when they’re away on a business trip, family vacation, or simply being not able to attend the Sunday service.

It is the total on-the-go solution for today’s busy individual. No need to log-on to a computer with internet access to access the church’s website’s online giving.

It only takes 3 simple steps to get started using MyTithe once the app is downloaded.

    1. Set-up your personal information.

    2. Set-up debit or credit card information.

    3. Set-up your church information.

Once the 3 steps are done, you're ready to send in your tithes from your phone!

Your church will receive a notification whenever you send in your tithes. It's that simple!

i voted: "no, would rather give check/cash". there is something too impersonal about doing this....tithing isn't done for convenience, it is done as a worship to God. However, if one does it with the full heart of giving, i don't have a problem with it....just personally not inclined to do it.

yea, I think I share the same opinion, we tried using bill pay to give to church because it was more convenient... We missed not being able to drop the check in the bucket, so we went back to the more "tangible" way of giving

    I concur.
    1) I hate apple and all iThings

And I hate to say this, but it's the elephant in the room. There is a social negligence felt when you don't have a check to drop in the plate. There have been a few days, where I forgot my check or something, and you just feel bad for not having it, and you feel like all eyes are on you. Even though when people I sit next to don't put in anything I don't care, and I don't they care about me. It's just a feeling.

We have a couple that are good friends who just had a baby, and they attend different services, one 9:30 and one 11:00 while they take turns watching the baby. And they take turns putting the check in the basket for that reason. lol

my church is pretty big (we normally have about 1000) at each service, so I don't really feel that. But when I lived in florida for a year I went to a small (60-80) member church and I can definitely see how that could happen...

Our church is over 1,000 members also. However we have 3 services, and when you go to the same service each week and sit in generally the same spot, then it isn't much different than a small church.

Default NEW "Ask Dave Ramsy" iPhone App available

Yes, you read correctly - just noticed there is a new App for iPhones at the Apple iTunes store for an "Ask Dave Ramsey" App that gives you DR-type advice/answers to personal finance questions. One good thing: it's FREE!

I would be concerned about the security of my information in the application. It says it uses encryption when stored on their database but it doesn't say anything about encrypting it in transit when you first put it in or make updates. Also, the more places you have your banking informaiton the more oportunities there are to have it stolen/lost. The final concern I would have is the security of the application itself and how it was written. If they don't have a good Software Developement Life Cycle with security testing there could be an unknown vulnerability just waiting to be discovered and exploited.
