Unhappy Making money with a blog with no starting money

    Hi Guys'

I am fairly new to the field of blogging. I've started a Google Blog, but there is no source of revenue being generated. I've played around with ad colours, and placement, and I'm wondering what I can do next to generate income? If I am like any of you, I also would like to emulate Bob, and try to do this full-time, but for now even part-time seems to be in question. I'm looking for encouragement at this time, but also some direction. I've played around with the free blog platforms like Google and Wordpress, but I'm wondering if I'm going in the right direction? If you could give me your honest opinion, and any point of direction at this point, I would be deeply appreciative. I am a son in His Kingdom, and so, I am looking to my brothers for encouragement and direction at this time. In the future, I hope to be an encouragement to others, who will be seeking similiar direction.

    Sincerely,
    David Cosier

    David,
I've just barely started blogging also (less than a year) and don't really make much money with it. But, there is my feedback.
    The three keys:
    1. Traffic/audience - there is simply no way to make money until you have readers, visitors, and traffic
    2. Patience - making money blogging takes a long time. I'm starting to enjoy some good results, but it has taken a long time.
    3. Consistency - doing what is best for the blog even when there is not financial incentive. Just keep posting knowing that things should come together in the future.
But if you want advice from someone who actually makes money you had better wait for another reply.

Full Disclosure: I do not blog, nor do I have an interest in blogging.

    1) What the heck are you blogging about?
1a) How many other people blog about the same stuff?
1b) Are your blogs more interesting/funny/factual then other peoples?
    2) How often are you blogging or updating content on your site?
    3) Do you have guest bloggers?
3a) Do you offer to guest blog for others?

    Hey David,

Both Craig and 4jacks have given some good advice. I just started my blog this January, so I'm new to blogging as well. Craig is right. In order to monetize your blog, you need visitors, readers, and an audience. Otherwise, who will see and click on the ads?

Patience is also key. If you're in it for the long haul, chances are likely that you'll get discouraged at times. Heck, I've even emailed Craig about this, and he confirmed that he had somewhat similar experiences. But as encouragement, I would advise you to take a long-term approach to this as well.

And as 4jacks advised, guest posting on more popular blogs can bring traffic to your own. I just submitted my first guest post on Bob's blog, and got a few visitors to my site.

I also started blogging with a free platform. But many others have suggested that once you're serious about blogging, that you should move into getting a self-hosted blog, and I took that advice. Your blog has more of a professional look and feel this way.

Lastly, I'm not sure if you're aware, but Bob has written an excellent post on how to make money with a blog. I still refer to it when I need advice and encouragement. Hope this helps.

I have videos on Youtube. They are card related. And youtube just sent me an email, I guess I got enough hits one of my videos to start putting google adsense onto it. So hopefully I will start making money from my youtube videos. Although I never really tried to, and I honestly don't expect any money from it. And I haven't made a video in two years!

I'm relatively new to the blog owner world at a little under a month old now, but based on my research I can attest to the advice that you've already been given. I started on a free blogger platform with Google, purchased my own domain name (Danny's Angel Writes), and just went from there. I've been tweaking the site and trying to add high-quality content on a consistent basis. I'm still playing around with AdSense and Amazon.com as monetization options, but I haven't been pleased with the lack of consistency that I'm getting from relevant ad targeting, so I've temporarily removed them from my site. I've registered my blog with different search engines (Yahoo, Google, Technorati, etc.) and promote it through my social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) and my subscriber base is slowly growing.

I hope this helps. Good luck to you!

Of course, this will contribute. The way to move up with our own ideas works well if maintained clearly. I'm working through my blog with Wordpress platform and i can plan such a change. As a part of my profession with top essay writing services, i have to make it more perfect that my blog stuffs. Looking to move on a new track and get into the my own platform. I agree with you as it is a working plan you shared here with us.

    Thanks and keep it up
