Default Me Too Beginner Blogger :)

    Greetings,

I have a day job, but have been seeking an outlet for my creativity that may also involve some compen$ation. The dream would be to eventually switch to online only revenue, but that looks to be several years down the pike per CPFs cool article about profiting from your blog. That provided the impetus for finally getting me off my butt. As one of those guys who always thought they had a few books in them, I never seemed to get any of it written down. That's when blogging struck me. I think I'm more content guy than a marketing guy. That is in my favor I believe. I'm very exited about having just set up with WP and doing my post. Today I re-read the section on guest posting and decided to give it a go here. As far as content goes, my topics are more of a general creative nature, though I would like to dabble in text link ads and adsense eventually. When thinking about today's submission, I was just inspired about another entry for my site. Any suggestions or comments regarding SEO or revenue generation would be greatly appreciated. If I have one hurdle, it would be narrowing down my focus as far as topics, though at the present, I am interpreting this as an advantage. Fortunately I have enough interests and experience to provide the content. I will be tuning in every so often to glean advice from you guys by reading the great work here.

    Thank you,

    James J

Thank you for the words of support. It's been lots of work in the last few weeks, but very rewarding. My wife is getting into the act by contributing some recipes, though I don't have that many posts up yet. I'm a bit artisanal, and have to feel the creative urge to put something down. It's amazing how much you have to learn to do this, but I enjoy it. Some of our stuff is about cooking, so it plays into the financial health theme; cooking at home to save. I'm going to check out wapline's cool article on traffic and see where it takes me. Blog on...

I began my blog because my brother thought I would enjoy it and he had just begun one about one year prior to his suggestion of me starting mine. I chose to focus on leadership. I have heard that it is the highest paid venue out there. Besides that I am an adminitrator at a Christian school and eat leadership up! Great job beginning a blog and I hope all goes well for you. My brother is doing really well and hopes to make $30K this year with his blog. I am no where near that since I am a beginner, but if this is a way that the Lord decides to bless my family - so be it.

30K is impressive. I'm sure you will match that. You sound motivated. My niche is a little spread out, so I usually ruminate a bit before putting the next post in writing. I've just started some adsense with baby step results, and am dabbling in affiliate stuff. No real traffic to support either one yet. I have had no returns with chitikia yet, though. Anyone have any tricks for making it work? I had a skuscraper in my right sidebar for over a month without any hits.

Hi Kevin, I'm new to the blogging world (well, professionally anyhow. I've been personal blogging for 5 yrs). I've been a school administrator for 12 years and after I had kids, I decided to work part-time and start up my blog. I think you might find it interesting as I focus on education and being a parent (mom). Ok maybe not the mom part, but the education part. I'm at www.educationmom.com. If you like it please subscribe and click "like" on the right. What's your site? I think leadership is a great thing to focus on! On a personal note, I'm from the Midwest (Chicago) tho now in Orange County, CA and am a Christian as well. Blessings~"Molly" (my pen name)
