    Default 10 Great Snacks

It's hard to find snacks that are portable, healthy and tasty. But here's a good list to start with. Got any other ideas?

    1. Nuts / dried fruit mix - almost any unsalted nut will do
    2. Yogurt (fat free)
    3. Snack bars - look for 4:1 ratio (sugar to fiber)
    4. Popcorn - 90% fat free or better
    5. String Cheese - mozzarella and low sodium
    6. Applesauce (natural) - less than 15 grams of sugar/serving
    7. Edemame (baby soy beans) - warm and sprinkle on a little salt
    8. Fruit
    9. Vegetables - eat as much as you'd like (except potatoes, corn)
    10. Cereal - the fewer the # of ingredients, the better. NO trans or saturated fat, 2:1 ratio (sugar to fiber)

Let me know if you want some specific examples. Enjoy!

good ideas awitwer, personally I have been on a popcorn kick since we got our air-popper, but I am in need of some ideas on different ways to prepare it - you know some kind of seasonings other than butter and salt - Any suggestions?

    Default Other toppings?

    Bob -

With air-popped popcorn: I'd suggest trying things without too much sodium or butter. Like Mrs Dash's. It's flavorful but without sodium. You can also try Tobasco sauce or hot sauce. A lot of hot sauce goes a long way, so go easy.

Final thought: flavoring your plain popcorn yourself will almost never yield as much sodium, fat or sugar than what a company has to add when preserving. Use the idea of MODERATION and you should be fine with popcorn. Great question!

Those are great ideas! However, you forgot peanut butter! Peanut butter is loaded with healthy fats and contains a decent amount of protein. Additionally, it is very filling and will hold off your hunger for a while! Thanks for the ideas!

Low-Sodium crackers are good and there are all these new 100 calorie packs but I don't think they are very filling. As for flavoring popcorn I like using Cayenne pepper, gives it a nice little kick and cayenne has health benefits like improving poor circulation, stimulating the gastric system and is classified as a stimulant, meaning that stimulants the whole body.
