Default Debt Free: How tithing made me pay off my house 11 years early

Hi my name is Taffy. Just want to share my story with you. Thanks for taking the time to read! God bless

In 2005 I began tithing regularly. I got introduced to the concept that all things belong to God and I am merely a steward. At the time I had been renting an apartment for two years and finally I decided to get a place to my own. I turned 30 that year and somehow my life’s priorities were changing both in the material and spiritual sense.

    House-hunting
I loved the neighborhood I lived in so in the evenings after work or on weekends, I’d drive around or stroll through the place looking at places I’d like to live. There was one particular place not far from the apartment I was renting that I always liked. I managed to get the real estate broker’s number from the management and amazingly when we met, the only place she could show me, the only listing she had, was a in a word: perfect. It was newly re-modeled, barely lived in, and simply and elegantly furnished. And though the price was fair, I could not afford it. That was the first place I looked at. I went to see 10 more but none were like that first one-- the look of the place and the way it felt just was so positive.

Great article! Indeed, not only is God greater than all our fears, He is greater than all our hopes and dreams! Loved your quote on Eph 1:19!

thanks a lot guys. it has been a great journey. Incidentally, when I first started on the loan, I didn't know the first thing about personal finance. I've always been a spender in the past but this purchased changed my money habits big time! I learned personal finance along the way and I've become the somewhat of the "money / personal finance adviser" among friends and colleagues. I'm happy experience came along because now when I help people with some financial advice its always rooted in a faith perspective and it credible because I have the proof

Great testimony Taffy! I love when people overcome temptations to give in, keep at it, and do things God's way - and then see the wonderful fruit that follows! Congrats!
