These are great tips, thank you for sharing! I love using home-made cleaning solutions as they are really good on the wallet and your home and environment too. Vinegar has been my best friend when it comes to cleaning! I love using microfiber cloths for cleaning instead of paper towels as I can use them over and over again and save money and trees. I was familiar with many of the tips from this post, but for some reason never thought of cutting sponges in half, what a great idea; I am going to do that from now on as we go through them fast. Also, I’m definitely going to try the microfiber furniture cleaning solution. We recently moved and almost threw away our old microfiber couches: they are functional but have a lot of stains. We ended up deciding to keep them for now thinking that perhaps we can buy slipcovers, or that we can always throw them away later if we decided to buy new couches . Well, one of them has been sitting in our garage since we moved. I’m going to try the solution and if it really works, we will have saved thousands by not having to buy new couches!

If I spent all my time making these cleaners I’d never get my Spring Cleaning done. I have made laundry soap and it is hard to keep it from separating and you must have a very large container to put it in. I only made it once. I have come to the conclusion that not everything is worth making myself my life is too busy to do it all. Although I did see some tips here that I really like and will be trying them out. Thanks for posting this article.

I agree that making liquid laundry soap is messy and it does separate. However, I make powdered laundry detergent for my family of five, four messy kids. I make 3 batches a year and love the ease of making it myself and how much money I’m saving.

Windex for microfiber? I never would have thought of that. Thanks for the tip!

I cut “Magic Erasers” in quarters. I never use more than that for a job!
