10 Gift Ideas for Mother’s Day

by Linda on May 6, 2010

It’s almost Mother’s Day so I thought I’d share some fun gift ideas for anyone to give to the special mother in their life. I am blessed enough to have two mothers now.

One I’ve known since birth and the other feels more like a real mother rather than a mother-in-law. Both are wonderful women with different strengths who have done their best to be good examples and I’m so grateful for them both!

  1. Some Nice Jewlery. How about a bracelet from Tiffany? Or a Mom necklace with the names of their children. I know a few people who have charm bracelets with the name of each of their children and grandchildren on them. They’re so beautiful and mean so much. And feel free to get creative with this one. One year my we got a ring sized that my mother inherited from her late mother. Now she’s able to wear it and it reminds her of us and her mother.
  2. A Spa Gift Card. Mom’s always can use a little bit of relaxing. Manicure, pedicure, massage.
  3. My Mom with her granddaughter Anna.

  4. Treat Her To Lunch! Just once, let her not have to cook for you. We all know she’s good at it, but she needs a break!
  5. A Nice Journal or Stationary. Look how cute these are!
  6. Bring Her Breakfast In Bed. One year we did this for my mom and I think it was hard for her to stay in bed while we were banging pots and pans around in the kitchen, but I think she really appreciated it.
  7. A New Purse. Brighton, Coach, or just something fun from Target!
  8. Me with my Sister & Mother-in-Law

  9. A Sweet Framed Photo of the Two of You! What mother wouldn’t love that?
  10. Write Her A Lettter Telling Her Why You’re Grateful She’s Your Mom.
  11. Flowers Are Always A Good Idea! Fresh cut or something for her garden perhaps?
  12. Gift Card to their favorite clothing store. This is always a good gift and maybe you can even go shopping with them! Then it’s two gifts in one!

Have any other suggestions? What are you doing special for your mom?

Great ideas, and an excellent post.

For those of us fortunate to have our mother still with us, lets appreciate Mom.

One thing that I think is universally enjoyed: our time. Mothers just love to spend time with their kids. As we grow older, and have very hectic lives of our own, taking a large amount of time and spending it with Mom will make her delighted. I suppose I can’t speak for everyone and all situations, but this is probably the case for most I would think.

This year and last, I decided to make a donation of a goat to a needy third-world family in honor of my elderly mother. This was quite a hit with her last year, and we both think it’s great to deemphasize the giving of mere “stuff” in the USA to each other.

To do the same, see (among other sites) http://www.heifer.org or http://www.kiva.org; both are well-respected charities with whom I have no financial participation other than as a client-giver.

How about a hand written letter telling her how much she means to you, why you love her, what you like about her, what moments you’ll never forget, what you’ve learned. A Mother’s Day love letter to you mom.

I have read a story about our angels here on earth. That story is really nice and talks about our mothers as our angels. We love our mothers so giving them gifts from our hearts will make them happy. It is not on the price of the gift that you will give to them but it is on the love that they can feel from you giving them a special gift.

God is really gracious and let us make our loved ones feel our love for them.
