As I’ve written before I really love ING Direct – in fact here are 10 reasons why I love them. But if I had to complain about them, it would probably be the fact that they don’t have physical branches (which is why they are able to offer some of the perks that normal banks can’t). So even though they have something like 25,000 free ATM locations, sometimes you have to be in the know to find one near wherever you currently are.

Thankfully ING just released an app that helps you find the nearest ING ATM using GPS satelites or by typing in an address.

Trying it out
I am an Android user and so I tried it out on my Droid and it quickly displayed about 20 locations within my zip code. I had no idea there were so many so close – who knew?

Thanks for sharing about the app. I downloaded it and see there are three ATMs within a mile of my house — even closer than my brick and mortar bank.
Beware of “fee-free” locations you haven’t used before … I was thrilled when I found one right across from my destination, saving me a couple of minutes out of my way to go to my usual ATM. But I WAS charged a fee and the only explanation provided is they can’t keep up with all the locations and it’s up to the location whether or not a fee is charged, even it the machine says it’s on their network.
I don’t have a smart phone so the App isn’t a solution for me. It’s irritating to me that the only way to find the no-fee ATMs on their web page is to log in and go into an account. It should be much easier, IMO.
Other than those nits, however, I’m a happy ING customer, thanks to you!
