Well, I spent some time yesterday praying about who/what/how the first day of my 10 Day Give should be completed – and wouldn’t you know, God opened up a great opportunity.
I was driving down the road and just as it started to rain I pulled up to a stoplight behind an older car (my car is over 10 years old – so when I say older it means something)
and the light turned green and the car didn’t move, and just as I was pulling around him to go through the light, I heard his engine stalling and it was clear that he wasn’t able to get it started. As I was driving through the light, I realized this was my God-given opportunity for the day. So I circled back around, pulled up behind him, got out and offered my cell phone. He said he thought it was out of gas and was going to walk to the gas station in the pouring rain. So I let him walk, and drove off.
Just kidding! I gave him a ride and we had a great conversation. He filled up the gas tank, we drove back to his car, filled it up and we both drove away smiling. Not a bad day.
Just a side note about how cool God is, when I left the house the weather was nice and warm, but something inside me told me it might be a good idea to bring a hooded sweatshirt – so I did. Not that it would have been that much worse standing in the rain in a t-shirt, but I was thankful that I had that I had a hoodie.

The 10 day give is off to a roaring start! I prayed about how I should be giving this coming week, and already a couple of opportunities have been presented to me. It’s amazing how when we make ourselves available to God to be giving, he’ll give us plenty of chances to come through!
That’s a great story and a great start! Thanks for sharing. The opportunites to give and be a blessing are definately there…thank you for this project that turns our focus to helping others!
I love God. He cares about the littlest details. What a “how much more does He care for us?” type of day! I love this! It’s so fun to make a conscience effort and prayer of who we can bless! I think this is going to become my new habit! I’m excited! (Can you tell by all my !!! ?)
lol, Bob – you had me going there….although this has been a busy week for me, I looked forward to day ONE! I had a hard time with what God was impressing me to do today (day 4) but I did it…and now feel joy. This is such a great idea and I have had quite a few nice comments to my blog post about it.
