OK ladies. If you’re trying to get hold of your financial life and you’d rather read “Confessions of a Shopaholic” (the books are much better than the movie) than “The Millionaire Next Door” raise your hand. “SHOO, Jimmy Choo!” is for you. Really, Catey Hill wrote this book specifically for girls! It seems to mostly be directed at single girls, although I think any woman looking to learn can benefit from it! It is actually quite fun to read. It’s pink, has cute drawings, and made me laugh at myself. She relates a budget to getting your hair done – how it adds a finishing touch to the overall effect.

The four parts to this book are:
- Style, Diet, and Fitness . . . for Your Finances
- (Spending) Style
- (Debt) Diet
- (Financial) Fitness
She gets you right from the beginning letting you know that you don’t have to sacrifice what you like and what you want to spend money on in order to have your financial life in order.
“So I tweaked my spending habits, learned how to save and plan for my future, and now I’m on the path to becoming a pretty wealthy woman. But don’t worry, I still have a great wardrobe and plenty of shoes . . .”
Catey Hill’s goal with this book is to:
- Help you evaluate why you spend.
- Tweak your spending habits.
- Help you get out of debt.
- Help you create a savings and retirement plan that even lets you splurge sometimes!
What I liked about it is that she has been in the place of the people she’s talking to. She knows how we rationalize a dinner with friends because it was a rough day and you deserve it, or how your idea of a financial plan may be to marry a rich man or win Deal or No Deal–and she calls you out on it! Then, at the end of the book, she gives wedding cost-saving tips and tells you what you need to know if you’re thinking about having a baby.
I must say, though, this is not a Christian book. There may be some things that you don’t agree with in the book. But, if you can take it as it is and move on, I really feel like this book can be very helpful for us girls who are trying to change our situations. I definitely recommend it!
