The ‘Spenz’ App: Budgeting & Money Management

I have been hearing about a lot of interesting money management tools lately and Spenz is one of the lastest to hit my radar.

TechCrunch recently wrote a review of Spenz and said:

“While Mint.com gives you access into where your money is going, it doesn’t incentivize or motivate you to stick to a budget. Enter Spenz, a startup launching at TechCrunch Disrupt today, is launching a proactive way for a younger generation to track where they spend all of their money and provides incentives and rewards for users to budget.”

How it works

Basically it is an app that allows you to enter your expenses on the fly, provides data about your spending patterns, makes suggestions on how to save money, and provides rewards for using the program.

And here is a quick video if you want to know more about how Spenz works…

I am going to have to check this app out. I have never heard of it, but it sounds like it might just be a great idea especially for my wife who hates to keep track of items like this. I also need to find a good one for her (and myself) to track mileage.

gas cubby works well for tracking gas mileage and expenses.

I looked at the website and not sure that there isn’t an invisible marketing machine behind it.

Plus, I generally don’t like giving up my spending information like this…even though I know my grocery store is tracking me through their rewards card.

Just be aware of who is getting this information and what they are doing with it.

Cherie,
Yea, I didn’t go through their privacy policy, but that would be where the answer would probably be. But you bring up a valid point about this new era of privacy and marketing.

I have tried several times to signup since the beginning of the month, but unable. I assume the site is overwhelmed.
