MAXIMIZE YOUR FREE TIME FOR WEALTH & PURPOSE
A true test of a book’s use is measured by the number of sticky notes marking the useful points in its’ content. Robert Pagliarini’s new “The Other 8 Hours: Maximize Your Free Time to Create New Wealth & Purpose” is littered with them in my copy.
Life begins at 5pm, according to Pagliarini. That’s when you have the opportunity to escape from the “Living Dead” and “Dead Broke” to acquire wealth and a “rewarding and fulfilling life.”
Divided very logically into four sections author Robert Pagliarini lays out a strategy to take the eight hours everyone has every day outside of work and sleep to plan for the future. You learn to:
- Get a Clue
- Get More Time
- Get More Money
- Get a Life
Writing in a clear and easy to understand style Pagliarini follows a very natural progression throughout the book and explains his plan step by step in a very conversational tone that is easy to follow.
Starting off with “Get a Clue” he simply points out the rut that most of us find ourselves in. Explaining the “Life begins at 5:00 p.m.” he suggests that by using those hours to our best advantage, which comes later in the book, we can go from having a full day to one that is fulfilling.
Once one understands where their life is located then one can move forward to “Get More Time.” Here the author skillfully maneuvers the reader into learning to get “nine hours out of eight” and to understand how to utilize the hours they have to their best advantage.
Only then does the reader learn of ways to “Get More Money.” Pagliarini constantly reiterates the need for low risk; keeping one’s nine to five job for security while starting up their own business. He discusses 10 different “channels” that may fit your life skills. Each gives common sense as well as business ideas and valuable resources. While certainly not the end all of information it should whet the appetite of anyone considering any of the avenues he presents.
“Get a Life” rightfully suggests that money isn’t everything. Don’t tell that to the person struggling just to pay their monthly bills, but one must keep their lives balanced and Pagliarini is pointing out that aspect of wealth also.
Full of charts and tips “The Other 8 Hours” is a good get-the-creative-juices-flowing kind of book with just enough business acumen thrown in to help you consider a new venture, or adventure. A good jumping off point, and recommended reading, for anyone looking to get more out of their life and wondering when they can possible find time to do just that.

i would love to read this book but unfortunately i have a reading list a mile long. It seems that it would really help a reader. I would particularly love to read what she says about blogging in the hope that there are no sales pitches in the good but genuine advice
Sounds like another ‘do what you love and make money’ book. In other words, useless. All you’re doing is supporting someone who probably canabalized the last decent selling book on this subject. If we all did that and all bought each others book on how to ahead ‘doing what you love’, would we all get rich and be happy?
