As I make my way to the end of my twenties, I am becoming a whole lot less interested in “stuff”. There is a beautiful rush of excitement that comes from throwing things away. There seems to be a freedom that comes from not having many items to worry about.
This is one of those things that I have merely scratched the surface of, but am excited to dig in deeper with. What about you?

I couldn’t agree more. I moved about 3 months ago. I couldn’t believe the amount of “stuff” I had accumulated in just 4 years. It was incredible – some of the things I had no idea I even owned. Needless to say, I gave away and threw away a lot. It was actually very liberating getting rid of a lot of that stuff. It was easy once I killed that little voice inside my head that would say, “maybe you’ll need this sometime down the road.”
We are realizing this now too, although in our mid 20′s. Our stuff absolutely filled the living room at our new apartment and we are excited to get rid of a lot of it. It weighs you down both physically and emotionally.
Nice quote. It’s a struggle, so I still have lots of stuff that I need to get rid of. Contentment is a beautiful thing!
I, too, in my late 20s, cannot live with a lot of "stuff." Once a month I declutter my house, take it upstairs in the bonus room, and pack it up to take to my next consignment store appt. I LOVE my consignment store–they do all of the pricing, selling, work for me.
I realize that living simply means having more—more time to do fun things, instead of having to clean, re-clean, organize, buy more storage for the stuff, etc.
“My wealth is measured by the amount of things I can give away.”
It’s easy to talk about getting rid of ‘stuff’, but I’ve found that it can be extremely hard to actually get rid of it – I am far too sentimental for my own good. So many of my things remind me of people I knew and what I did, it’s a strain to get rid of anything. Of course, if I keep on going like this I might not have enough room for anything new!
I will be turning 31 soon and still have lots of “stuff” from my twenties and teens that I am trying to get rid of. It is amazing how many things you think you need!!! Now I must minimize my “things”, as well as my outgoing payments–which are both related!!
I agree with you. Having less is less stressful. It’s amazing how happy and light I felt after throwing all of my stuff away.
This is the perfect time for me to get clear about things and throw stuff away or sell stuff. I have a lot of debt I need to pay off so selling stuff is awesome.
Plus, I’ll have less stuff in the end and if I want to get more stuff then I can simply buy it or rent it.
With less really does come success.
