Thermostats can be deceived…

thermostat.jpg… into thinking that it is actually warmer in the house than it actually is. In order to prevent this keep lamps, candles, televisions and other heat producing electronics away from the [tag]thermostat[/tag]. This a is an easy way to [tag]save money on your cooling[/tag] bill.

Also, if your thermostat is upstairs and you spend most of your time downstairs, consider keeping it set to a higher temperature than you might normally, at least during the day. It’s an easy 5-10 degree difference between the levels of my (very old) home.
