11.30.2008 by Bob 2 comments

Here are a few Christmas deals on some random items …These are some deals that I found out about from Buy.com that could be of interest. I know there are a lot of deals going on this weekend, but these are the ones that stood out to me and looked pretty good. The deals are good until December 3rd, or until they run out. For what its worth…

Taskwriter – A GTD tool

11.29.2008 by Bob 4 comments

A while ago I wrote about a personal productivity book that I really enjoyed called Getting Things Done. It is one of the most popular books in the productivity genre and rightfully so. The GTD system is a really well designed system that makes organizing your life doable.

Taskwriter.com is a new tool that streamlines the GTD system even more. They have created an online way to monitor your inbox, next action items, and other categories of to-dos. It is very simple and easy to use even for someone who doesn’t know the GTD system. If you are looking for an online to-do list, it is worth checking out.

The Little Book of Bull Moves in a Bear Market

11.28.2008 by Bob 2 comments

Bull Moves in Bear Markets… I recently received a couple of copies of The Little Book of Bull Moves in Bear Markets by Peter Schiff. I am trying to finish up two other books so I can get to this book to read it. So, while I haven’t read the book, I do know a little bit about Peter Schiff. Peter has become known for boldly proclaiming the impending economic collapse of the U.S. and while I think he has some points that are well worth considering, I am not sold on everything that Peter preaches.

Stores in danger of bankruptcy – use your gift cards!

11.28.2008 by Bob 11 comments

With the challenges in the economy there are many stores that are in danger of going bankrupt. Apparently some of these stores are still selling gift cards that, of course, my only be honored for a couple more months if they go out of business. This isn’t necessarily a suggestion not to get gift cards from these stores, but to make sure that you ask questions and to take advantage of them as quickly as possible.

$1 gas anyone?

11.27.2008 by Bob 7 comments

I am getting such a kick out of watching gas prices plummet. Getting back to the $2 per gallon mark was pretty exciting, but since most of the U.S. has passed that mark, what is next? $1 gas?

Showing Your Finances The Light of Day

11.25.2008 by Guest 6 comments

How should I deal with my debt? I’m often asked what is the most important step in dealing with debt and the answer I invariably give is to start by getting visibility to what’s happening with your finances. About a year ago I had a conversation with a friend who told me that she and her husband had just been to see a bankruptcy attorney and that he recommended that they declare bankruptcy.

MagicJack review – long-distance for $20/year

11.23.2008 by Bob 31 comments

I normally do not watch info-mercials. But, when I was a vacation a few weeks ago, one particular product caught my eye. It was a Magicjack. The announcer said that you just plug this little device into your computer, connect your phone to the device and could make calls like usual. Users could call anywhere in the U.S. and Canada for as much as they like. The kicker was that there was no monthly fee. Only $40 per YEAR.

What the Bible says about this economic downturn

11.22.2008 by Guest 10 comments

The economic downturn and the Bible … As our current economic dowturn continues, many people have begun to ask why: what is the cause of these economic problems? Is it a failure of free market capitalism? Honest miscalculations? Rampant greed? As always, we can look to the Bible for solutions to our problems. In particular, the Bible’s wisdom regarding money matters seems particularly poignant at this time. Below are some key passages from the Bible:
