Why you need to pay down your debts ASAP

01.27.2009 by Bob 6 comments

Paying down debts helps us weather the storm… I have been seeing a lot of major companies going out of business lately and it concerns me. I don’t enjoy seeing businesses fail and especially when you think about all the families who are greatly impacted by it. I don’t have a solution to solving the economy’s problems, but I will say that one of the best things we can do to be better positioned to weather the storm is to minimize our debts.

IRS audits and previous years’ tax returns

01.24.2009 by Bob 2 comments

Never bring previous year’s tax returns to an audit I was recently reading in a publication that I get that you should not provide tax returns for the IRS for years other than the one in question. Apparently it is in the IRS rules that the taxpayer is NOT required to provide information for other tax years – only the one for which you are being audited. The irony is that, according to the article I read, the audit notice from the IRS asks you to bring previous year tax returns.

Giveaway | Total Money Makeover Audiobook

01.23.2009 by Bob 2 comments

Dave Ramsey and the Total Money Makeover… If you got a chance to see the video I put up yesterday, Dave Ramsey is the antidote. I love giving the Total Money Makeover away every once in a while, because it is quickly becoming a classic and yet our nation is not in short supply of people who need it. I almost always recommend this book for people who have a lot of debt that they are trying to break from or who just want to get a little bit more control of their finances. The book is simple, a fun read, and in this case you don’t even need to read it, you can listen to it!

Is the Obama tax cut really going to help?

01.21.2009 by Bob 12 comments

I was recently reading this article about the Obama tax cut and it really got me wondering if it is going to help at all. Personally, I am a bit more on the side of letting the economy resolve it’s problems rather than having government intervene, but I do understand that we are currently at a critical point and Obama sees no other way to fix it than a tax cut.

Short Prayers week

01.19.2009 by Bob 5 comments

The benefits of praying short prayers… If you recall, last week I wrote about how I created a prayer challenge for myself basically scheduling a short prayer every hour that took priority over everything else. The goal of it was to shift my prayer time from bigger blocks to more continual shorter spurts of prayer throughout my day.
