10 Encouraging Bible Verses

The Bible is the endless supply of encouraging truth

Everyone needs a bit of encouragement from time to time. Thankfully we have the Bible as our ultimate source of encouraging words! Even in the midst of the “financial crisis” that we are in the middle of, we can remain hopeful and encouraged if we keep trusting in God.

I have found that the key is to finding specific Bible verses and meditating on them. According to the Word, this is how faith comes. The more we soak up the truth of God’s Word, the more assured we become that He really is going to take care of us!

I know some people whose lives have been dramatically affected by this and I think as it progresses we will all know people who will go through struggles as a result. The important thing to remember in the midst of the chaos is that God is in control. He is not surprised by the events and He is not unsure how He is going to take care of his children. We are just as safe putting our trust in Him when things are going great as when it looks like everything is falling around us.

“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” – Phil 4:19

Notice the above verse says “ALL.” It doesn’t say “some” or “most,” but it says that He will meet all of our needs. It doesn’t say how He will meet our needs and I have found from experience the way He does it is often not what I expected. But the bottom line is that God is faithful and He does what He promises.

I will leave you with some encouraging bible verses that I found to be helpful…

  • “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
  • God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains quake at its swelling pride. Selah. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our stronghold. Selah. Psalm 46:1-3,7
  • ‘Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ Isaiah 41:10
  • For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control. 2 Tim 1:7 (AMP)
  • I have set the Lord continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Psalm 16:8 (AMP)
  • Cast your burden on the Lord [releasing the weight of it] and He will sustain you; He will never allow the [consistently] righteous to be moved (made to slip, fall, or fail). Psalm 55:22 (AMP)
  • He only is my Rock and my Salvation; He is my Defense and my Fortress, I shall not be moved. Psalm 62:6 (AMP)
  • Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully. 1 Peter 5:7 (AMP)
  • The Lord is good, a Strength and Stronghold in the day of trouble; He knows (recognizes, has knowledge of, and understands) those who take refuge and trust in Him. Nahum 1:7 (AMP)
  • “The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26:3

I can’t tell you how refreshing and encouraging this post is! There is so much negative news. Everywhere I look it is fear. People are afraid of their jobs, their investments. It’s fear fear fear.

It’s so nice to read a post in the middle of all of this that reminds us that Jehovah is bigger than stock markets. He is the Ancient of Days. He will meet our needs.

when we grasp this we can become the people that people look to for direction in this time of trouble.
In the words of the christian hip hop group.
“When there’s trouble you,
don’t see them running to,
their BMWs”

Ryan,
I thought it was pretty refreshing myself – God is so much bigger than what is going on around us!

on a side note, I loved that quote you gave… so true!

For the record,
I found the actual lyrics which are better than my paraphrase.

all up and down the F.M. dial

they make songs about takin’ the wrong route

and yet men smile

Yet when trials and tribulations appear

“God this” and “God that” is all that you hear

You don’t see them runnin’ to them BMWs “

Also notice that He doesn’t say that cable television, plasma TVs and three cars per household are “needs.” We get a bit confused on that one here in the US.

“But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.” 1 Timothy 6:8

Okay, God is meeting my needs, but I cannot get ahead. (No money to go to school or start a business.)

Is this any way to live?

Unfortunately the Bible never promised that we would have a good life on earth… The Lord said that He would provide or NEEDS but He never said that He would make life easy if you trust in Him, infact he said that you would be persecuted. But my Mum always says to me, The Lord hires and fires, blesses and rewards, and holds you in the palm of His hands. He will never forsake you or leave you.

Also there are verses in the Bible that mention that if you are a friend of the world than you are not (basically the words are probably wrong) a friend of God. We are meant to be set apart from the way of the world, it doesnt mean we are better than it, it simply means that we have come to realise that we can no longer live without the help of our God, and we recognise that He is our King and our Lord and our Saviour, and therefore try and follow His ways.

Going through the molding stage in life is difficult, and sometimes it can leave you feeling like God is not helping you, but when you look back later in life, you realise that The Lord has been there with you through every step of the way, and you are better for it.

Trials are not pleasant, but then again this life is not the life we are meant to enjoy. We are meant to count our blessings though and be thankful that the Lord blesses us so richly.

Also, the trials are what bring us closer to trusting in God. Remember Jesus didn’t have a home or even a place to lay His head! Yet He is a King of kings and Lord of lords. And if we look at those around us, most of those in the “world” who are financially well off-how many truly love, are dependent on God and keep His commandments? Not very many, so when they die they will have an eternity of suffering. We need to remember that God is preparing a mansion in Heaven for those IN CHRIST, and we just need to get through this life as best we can, trusting and obeying God in everything remembering there is something so much bigger and better in store for us :) God blesses us spiritually and takes care of our needs which means we don’t keep up with the Johnsons. We just need to focus on making it to Heaven-the eye on the goal.

Just remember – living for Him includes giving up your own desires and goals for His will. Explore other options as that may not be His plan for your life. What if He needs you elsewhere? Use your talents and gifts and those were his blessing to you. Pray and then pray some more! I was amazed what happened to my relationship with God when my husband taught me to tithe and not let money drive our decisions. It was a long hard lesson to learn! I learned to be responsible and live frugally and never been happier. I do have to get beat over the head sometimes so I don’t forget… :)

Those that are known by the Lord have a Mighty One of God as their Guard and Savior, even the Lord Jesus … yet, look and see with eyes open … these things are signposts for which we are commanded to look for and sound the alert and alarm … for the Day is at hand when that which is written in the scriptures of Truth will be done. What He has said, will surely come about and there are times for comfort, indeed, even as He comforts us from within during this storm. Yet there is also a time to blow the trumpet and sound the alarm … not another lullaby … but a blast from the horn.

Wake up, I say.
Pray.
Draw near.

Speak His name, and He is with you. Yahshua has come, and is here and is coming shortly to take all those that belong to Him and of which He sees Himself within them.

Ripening for the harvest,
Trent

These scriptures are really so much encouraging. Jesus is the beginning and the end. Yes, people look at the created and so blame luck but we look at the creator for our needs who is stable in his promises. I am seeking a job in the midst of these financial crisis but I believe I shall not be touched by the situations or circumstances. And as a youth I am glad I am getting a revelation of Gods word as far as finance is concerned. I wanna be blessed to be a blessing. The God of the Bible says “My people are destroyed for a lack of understanding.” and “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” (Proverbs 4:7)
Thanks for giving the amplified version of the bible. It really broadened my understanding. We are the sons of Jesus and by his precious blood even in the midst of the financial crises ..just as the death angel passed over the people in the old testament who were obedient to God by putting the blood on their door posts so also being obedient to these scriptures is being bonded to them and thus being saved from disastrous financial consequences. Halleluiah!!!

I have never doubted that God is my everything, but some times when things are quite in my home, I wonder. The United States has gotten it’s self into quite a knot. I will not set back and judge other peoples decisions, that is not my job nor do I want to do that. Their judgement day is coming, and only one will make that decision. And what ever president we have in office , he will not make everyone happy. But my parents always told me, respect our alders, or leaders, and pray they make the right decision for us.
yes, I would like things here at home a lot better, yes, my husbands job may not be here, tomorrow. Yes, I may loose my house, yes, it was a very troubling Christmas, but I will not lose my faith. Neither will my children, I do not preach to my children who’s fault this has been, what I will tell them is: Cast your burden on the Lord, (release the weight of it) and He will sustain you; He will never allow the (consistently) righteous to be moved, made to slip, fall or fail. Psalm 55:22
Please do not judge anyone anymore, work on supporting each other, I think that is what God wants us to do.
God Bless
Smilie

Who are we to question God?

God is good all the time.
All the time, God is good. :)
Suffering, that is our own decision. We make our own decisions, yet we blame on God because our hearts are torn. We allow our heart to tear, we allow ourselves to fall. It is not that we love God, it is that he LOVED us. Loved us enough to take our place, our shame and our guilt. When life gets tough, God is opening your eyes, to trust him, to love him. We wont understand, but that’s where Faith comes in. It’s time to be fashioned by fire and come awake! God is calling you today, are you willing? Dont think ahead and dont think behind. Quiet yourself and hear his voice.

All the glory be to God our Father, our Abba.
Let his name be maginified continually.
Let everything that hath breath praise his name.
Bless is he who comes in the name of the Lord and who, is indeed the Lord.
Thank you Father, for leading me to this page of beautiful verses…Thank you for reminding me yesterday that you are the Lord of Lords…King of Kings.
And then making me wonder and search…and now prove that you were encouraging me. You were with me, you went before me and you met me down by the water. By the river, by the river the good Lord did pass me by.
And you spoke to me in a calm soft voice, and the birds soared, the wind blew and the trees clapped as the water rippled in praise of your Holy Blessed Name.
“You’re here, there’s nothing to fear, I’m safe in your arms…” ahhh God how deep is your love? Who can know the depth of it?
Thank you for this beautiful post…may the Lord our God continue to work through you to do his Good Will.
Amen.

“Everyone needs a bit of encouragement from time to time”
And when you are really down look at what you have to be grateful for. Take a trip to Walmat and see people who cannot walk, have few clothes or going up to the sample displays for their only meal. I know I was handing out samples for a while and I can tell you tha there are a lot of people who look forward to seeing the sample cart because they are hungry.
God Bless.

Thank you so much for posting this.I was really feeling down and was asking God to just make me feel relaxed so I can focus on his word.Tears were in my eyes and I was really down…I have to say whatever I am suffering from now ( job and health situation) are all results of my behavior and its great to always know that even when I behave badly he loves me and takes care of me…Even though I have some problems but at the same time my life is just FULLLLLL of so many blessings…I think when a situation occurs and I make the wrong decision etc…the situation keeps repeating, if I dont listen to what I am supposed to do ( as I almost always do) and do what I want to do, I fail, and the situation just keeps happening over and over and it worsens and gets to the point where I cannot breath anymore, in many ways this is the only way I learn and he knows that that is why he allows it to happen, bec there a lesson I didn’t get yet…I am glad he is so patient with me …

Thank you so much again for posting this

Greetings and Salutations in the name of the Lord, I get very encouraged when I see brothers and sisters encourage and edify one another as we ought to. Only blessings in the Lord can result from such actions. I have seen poverty in the world around me like some only have nightmares about. Poverty of the body but more importantly poverty of the spirit. I have seen many people so lost within themselves , that hundred bucks in front of them is rubbish. And others where that would feed them and their family of four for a month. But we as able bodied believers please let us admonish and share our glorious spiritual riches like we may a sandwhich with one who is hungry. Love our neighbor as we love ourselves. However that is for each of us in our community. Be a blessing but not just financially but spiritually. Just as Jesus said to the lame man lowered through the roof “go your sins are forgiven . . . Then healed Him just because He could . My friends money does not make the world go round, people who live for money will have their eyes opened in time. But the Lord himself who holds all things in His hands makes the World go round. I am sure glad and filled with Joy that if He be for m who could possibly stand against me! Whew ! Thanks God that Your Truth has set me free ! Because I am FREE INDEED ! Bless you all in the Everlasting and Glorious name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Since we are to testify to God’s goodness, I need to share this testimony regarding this verse – Phil 4:19. Last November my son came home from college and told me he needed money in order to pay the rest of his tuition for the winter semester. We didn’t have any money, but I told him not to worry about it. Well, I started worrying about it that night and woke up at about 4 a.m. thinking about it. All of the sudden I heard this loud voice in my head say “My God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory.” It was awesome, so I accepted it and stopped worrying. Two weeks later the Lord had not supplied the money and my son e-mailed me that he needed more money than he originally quoted me. I told him not to worry again, but that night, I cried out to the Lord and asked Him to supply what He promised. Do you know the next moring my mother called me and asked me what my bank account number was so she could deposit money my father and she wanted to give me in my account…and it was over double the amount of the tuition bill. God is faithful…..just be patient, ASK Him to help and have faith. Sometimes we forget to ask for help!

Psalm 34:7 The angel of the LORD encamps
around those who fear him, and delivers them.
(encamps = sets up camp)
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 18:10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower;
the righteous run to it and are safe.
Psalm 37: 4 Delight yourself in the LORD,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
28For the LORD loves justice;
he will not forsake his saints.
They are preserved forever,
30 The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom,
and his tongue speaks justice.
31 The law of his God is in his heart;
his steps do not slip.

I am 32 yrs old who never embraced God, even though I grew up in a cristian family. Because of this I faced many trials and tribulations in my life, including jail and drug addiction for years. I am now a college student who is very happy in my life, although life on life’s term can still be difficult it is more rewarding now that I have let God in my life. Although some may not call me a cristian, regardless of my title of religion, I know there is a God who loves me and see’s me through. My grandfather died recently and the one verse that alwasy stood out to him was “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” This def rings true for me as well. And everyday I read it to assure myself I can get through anything. Im thankful my God loves me and got me through my bad desisions.

Jesus, my Lord August 6, 2010 at 10:04 pm

In the pass few weeks, I saw every aspect of my life going down the drain. I couldn’t understand the reasons and the pain was sooooo great! One morning, being so tied, I fell on my knees and cried to the Lord to lift me up because I was unable to stand on my own two feet from lack of energy and hope. My mind was in such a state that a couldn’t trust myself in things that needed to be done. That day, with God’s mercy I understood where I went wrong.
Being a Christian doesn’t mean that we are stamps proof protected from evil. But in times of trouble God’s promesse to his children that He would never give up on them. Being God’s children , we need to believe in His word and by faith, surrender ourself to Him. By doing so, He will carry our heavy burden on His shoulders so that our Sadness becomes HOPE and Peace of mind and that our broken heart renew itself with love. Being the greatest Father, He will guide us to the right path that he has for prepared, in advance, for us so that we can find our way back to him.
Faith and trust in God are the keys ( solution) to a more understanding life. No matter the situation we are in, God will never abandon His children. As children we need to fix our eye to the Lord, stand still and know that He is God because .
God knows his children REAL needs and He is fully capable in giving it to them. We must remember that God is the one that chooses his children and not the other way around. Jesus said to his disciples: “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide.” John 15:16
“For he chose us in him before the creation of the world
to be holy and blameless in his sight…” Ephesians 1:4

@ Annie
Remember he didn’t promise it’d be easy he promised it’d be worth it!

Proverbs 3:5,6 i believe says ” Trust in the lord with all your heart and lead not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path.

Romans 8:28 “We are assured and know that (God being a partner in their labor), all things work together and are (fitting into a plan) for good to and for those who love God and are called according to (His) design and purpose.

Thanks for these great encouragment scriptures! One of my favorites is:

2 Corinthians 4:8-9
we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;

I believe that we should all have the strength to go unto others with the Bible as our shield of defense. Don’t let anyone discourage or make you feel bad for worshiping God. He is the one who giveth you life and can take it away. Live for God, with your every breath, step, and thought. He is the only way of truth and perfection. In his eyes, nothing but a pure heart is beautiful. Love him and never stop loving him for he hath given his only son for your life! :)

Thank You God for your grace and mercy for i am not a perfect man. Thank you for sending your son Jesus to die for my sins. My car was repo yesterday because i don’t have a job . I’m very sad but God thank you. I may not have a car or a job but I have faith.

Jesus said: Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in ALL circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

For those of you who have lost your jobs. Please keep the faith. My husband and I had become very upset with our pastor of our last church so we quit going. A few weeks later my husband lost his job. He was the main bread winner and I worked a job that I hated daily because we had to pay the mortgage (on the house we had just purchased 8 months prior). Well for 9 months there was no hope about a job. The recruiters had stopped calling. We decided it was time to go back to church and pray for forgiveness and that we had lost our way. (We chose a different church as well). The very next day (Monday) he had 3 phone calls about interviews and another on that Tuesday. He ended up with a job from those calls. Its a better paying job and a company thats financially doing well. This was last November (2009). The kicker was we found that he actually got the job the day before Thanksgiving. So we have continued in our walk with Christ. Never doubting him and thanking him daily. Not missing a service as well as started serving and volunteering at our church weekly. Even have my teenage son involved with serving now. God moves in mysterious ways. He wanted us closer to him and that was the way to bring us back. You dont know at the time why hes doing it but hes doing it for us. Maybe like in our case it was to bring us back to him. God bless each of you.. I felt compelled to share with you and hopefully to give hope to those that are suffering.

Thank you, Bob, for your words that you quoted from the bible. This is a difficult year for us. I broke my ankle a year-an-a half ago and my twelve year-old son Michael and I lost our condo. We’ve spent the year going from one relative to another ( I had to spend two weeks in a shelter without him last year). We are waiting on a settlement from the accident and I hope that it comes Soon! I am living with my 21 year old daughter, Olivia who has three children 5 and under. She has had many struggles and has gone far off the path many times. I pray for presents for the children and my son Michael. Please pray for us to….you and your church family.
Thank you and Merry CHRISTmas! Sue:)

Thank you for creating this page. I am going through a divorce and I am only 24 (no kids though)…I am scared because I feel alone and I live in a new area where I have no community. I just sat down and prayed for peace and comfort from God. I looked up this page to find encouraging Bible verses…this was exactly what I needed. I know it sounds corny, but I wrote many of these verses on note cards and placed them around my room so that I am constantly reminded of God’s hand on me. I am not alone and I know that God is there. Thank you for your reminder…but please pray that I will find a good church in this new area and that I will feel welcomed into a new community! :)

Thank you for this page and all the reminders of God’s presence in our lives through the quotes and verses you post. I am a single parent of two teen boys, working full time and going to school part time. My sons are great boys who Know God, yet sometimes I feel I’m not giving them enough…we barely make ends meet and they complain about how poor we are. I constantly remind them …we are not! what do I do? Please pray for me and my family.

Angie I want to commend you on raising your 2 boys and working and going to school. You are very special for doing that. But more than that is raising your boys to know the LORD. That is what is going to keep you going and keep your boys on the right track. As far as being poor I don’t see that. We measure riches on the material things we have here on earth, these are temporary. KEEP GOD IN YOUR LIFE AND DON ‘T GIVE UP. I will pray for you. This is one of the best sites I have found on line. We need to keep GOD first in what ever we do. GOD BLESS EVERYONE.

When you feel all hope is gone, when you are standing all alone, He will hear your faintest cry, Jesus is present to heal. Jesus is the only way, He will wipe your tears away, though the world seem dark and grey he is present to heal. But all you have to do is believe, Jesus will never leave us nor forsake us, rather He will comfort and heal us. Do not be presumptuous and think to yourself the Lord does not care, or your trials with is but for a ,moment will never disappear. Remember though many are the afflictions of the righteous the Lord will deliver us from them all.

@Annie: Psalm 30:5 “Weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning”. Plus nature shows us that things often get worse right before they get better: it’s always darkest just before dawn. Be encouraged! Lift up your head, (for Christ is the lifter of your head), that the King of glory may come in…

@Leeanne: James 4:8 “Draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh to you”. We’ve gotta make the next move, cos God made His move before the foundation of the Earth, when the Lamb was slain for our sins. Hope this helps.

God bless you all, my brethren. It’s been a blessing reading your posts. Please be encouraged to know that our God is REAL, a very present help in our time of need/trouble.

When the storms of life hit you, do like Jesus did and SPEAK to them in faith (Mark 11:22-26), then back your faith up with appropriate ACTION (James 2:14-26) and you will surely see God manifest in your circumstance – in His time.

But whatever you’re going through, always remember that God is at work in your life to bring good out of it (if you love Him and have been called according to His purpose – Romans 8:28).

Be blessed, all!

Love y’all.

Dr Kem

Yes it is good to pray for our leaders but it warns us in THE BIBLE to beware there will be people to lead us down the wrong road. Just because they are in authority does not mean they are right this is man’s law not God’s. When they want to take the 10 COMMANDANTS out of the courthouse and prayer out of school do you think GOD is happy about this? Don’t be to quick to support such an act my community did not do such a thing. Remember the devil down here is not red and have horns growing out of his head he is going to look like me and you. Go back to your teachings when you were a child Pledge the allegience to the flag say the LORDS PRAYER IN SCHOOL start this in school at an early age this maybe the only knowledge they get about THE LORD don’t take this away from them. I would be afraid if I were the person that wants to TAKE GOD out of everything. Because GOD is everything. BEWARE OF THE DEVIL HE IS IN SHEEP’S CLOTHING.

These verses really encouraged me. I’m going through a terrible time right now where I’ve made a huge mistake, and although I know God forgives me, I still feel the guilt. I know guilt is not from God, and therefore am praying for him to restore my soul and help me to realize that His love is all encompassing and that there is no limit to his forgiveness and healing. Satan loves to tell people that they aren’t good enough for God, that they’re dirty and sinful and unworthy of His love. You would think that after growing up in the church my whole life I would automatically remember the truth of God’s word and His love for me, but Satan’s power can be so strong sometimes and the only way I will overcome these feelings is through constant prayer and meditating on God’s word. God can use our sins and our mistakes for good. We just need to repent to him and turn from our evil ways. And it’s so true that sometimes we only seek God’s help when we’re going through trials and tribulations, but sometimes that is what it takes for us to stop relying on our own strength and rely on His. We should be following him all of the time, even when things are going well. When this horrible situation is over, I pray that I will be thanking God for the opportunity to grow closer to him, and that I will seek Him no matter the circumstances.

Thank you so much for posting this!
Over the past year, I have been surrounded by significant issues with my health, my home, and my schoolwork.
I am in my last year of School before University, and I only have a few months left before I finish, and have had poor attendance at the most important time in my education so far. Despite all my efforts, it seems that I am only met by critiscm, and I have often felt that only God can see my struggles. At the same time, I have felt hugely frustrated, as I often wonder why he isn’t alleviating any of my difficulties. Reading these scriptures have reminded me how much worse off I could be without God, and that he is working through this difficult time, even if I can’t see it.
These scriptures have really helped at a time when I need it most.
God bless you!

This site is very encouraging to me. Trying to find comfort for a broken heart. God is near to me since He is near the broken hearted. Therefore in the midst of this storm I have peace … bc my heart clings to Him. He becomes Supreme and bigger bc I know He would never hurt me so He has allowed my heart to break for a reason. Maybe so that I can feel as Christ did when He was betrayed. I hope, I wait, I pray.

Our faith is not a possession but a relationship. Knowing Him is knowing the truth and this gives us hope and expectation. Hope is the catalyst to our faith in Him, and as we walk close to Jesus through His word and seeing Him work in and through us in exactly the same way as He did the early church become abundantly manifested. Our Lord Jesus wants to work through us but we need the close relationsip with HIm through love for Him and for others, worship, praise, and witnessing of Him to this perishing world.

His word is full of amazingly true promises, which are up to us to claim. How we are in our walk with him only determines how much and how soon all his promises come to pass in our life.

This site is so wonderful. We can get caught up in our daily lives and forget what is really important. I loose myself on this site reading all the great Bible Verses. All the testimonies from people that are having hard times are in my thoughts and prayers. I too have been through hard times loosing my Mom, Dad and Sister in less than 4 years. It wakes you up and you realize that this is our temporary home. HE doesn’t put anything on you that you can’t handle with HIS help. My friend told me to go to the doctor and get some depression medicine I told her my cure was in THE BIBLE I didn’t want to cover up my pain I wanted to deal with it and the way was through GOD’S WORD. The answer to every question is in THE BIBLE you just have to know where to find it. THE LORD is with me all the time I am dealing with my grief through only THE LORD’S help and HE walks with me daily. I miss my family but I know one day I will see them again. For everyone that is discouraged, GOD is there for you. Don’t give up on HIM I know HE will help you, this is where your faith comes in. HE puts us through tests to see how strong your faith is. The devil is trying to wear you down you are vulnerable at this point but don’t give in to him. Keep your focus on GOD and HIS scriptures. Put GOD first. I pray alot and the ending of my prayers I say THERE IS NO ONE IMPORTANT BUT YOU. Keep GOD FIRST and everything else will come. GOD BLESS THIS SITE AND EVERYONE ON HERE. THANK YOU.

I was feeling down because of my job loss, being 56 years old with diabetes and no insurance, not knwing if I will be able to keep my home, but I am a child of God and I guess that I just needed a reminder of God’s promises to his children. Thank you for the encouraging scriptures. I know I just need to get up, dust myself off and remember God is on my side, he is directing my steps and all my needs will be supplied in Jesus name. It is such a troubling time we are facing now, but I pray through strength through it all. Again, so nice to have a website like this for encouragement.

I am glad and thankful to come across this page right now. In times of trouble I tend to cling to a whole lot of texts and things, and how easily I forget I should just reflect on just one verse to bear fruit as Bob says above in his opening remarks. The word Selah is an interesting one if you search the Wiki on it.

If i may share below a few encouraging scriptures that have helped deal with strivings, these are things we tend to do that try to keep the word alive in our hearts in our own strength, or actions we take as expressions of faith. Sometimes they have value in helping us through the moment, but we often look back and see they got in the way, or misled us.
How to tell the difference? I still get it wrong about half the time, but thats forgiveable.

Psalm 16:7
“I will give praise to the Lord who guides me, in the night hours my heart instructs me”

If you want to work an act of faith , the best thing is to put yourself to sleep at night rather than lay awake going over your troubles. Even uplifting thoughts are keeping us awake. The verse above requires us to be asleep to work.  Thats a handover. Thats letting go.
And avoid seeking the meaning of dreams. Your spirit within knows how to handle that better than your conscious brain.

In having Jesus as a personal savoiur, we tend then to deal with God as a man, which is a bit of a trap, He is more than a man, He is God.

Read Isaiah 55:8-12  The Message version puts it well:
”I don’t think the way you think.
The way you work isn’t the way I work.” God’s Decree.
“For as the sky soars high above earth,
so the way I work surpasses the way you work,
and the way I think is beyond the way you think.

Quite often we see all his actions as interventions and try to figure out what he wants us to respond with, or where he must be heading with circumstances.  I have learned it is better to see His provision as being created before the world began and our abilities to overcome as already created within us at the time of our birth. At times of triumph it may -feel- like an intervention, but that’s just feelings. Thinking of His provision out there on the path ahead like early arctic explorers used to do for one another gives a view of God where no strivings are necessary.

I often take part in a secular university questionaire that investigates wellbeing and stress, and over the years they have found a link between people’s religious beliefs and their ability to cope.
So they took an unusual (for them) step of asking a series of questions about people’s faith. One of them was “what thought do we hold in times of trouble?” They laid out a series of choices, not Bible texts as such but more as paraphrases like,
- I believe God is looking after me and will help me
- I know things will work out for good for all involved
- I know there are people in worse situations [that eventually make it through]
etc etc
but they included one I’d never seen before, and it held curious interest:
- If I am patient things will improve

I looked into various scriptures about patience and learned that it didnt just deal with the issue of waiting in time, but not trying to control what we think are factors, just let them be and what appears to be calamity will reverse itself.  Sometimes holding our tongue is good to do, we can think that we’re pulling the right strings, when in fact it makes them worse.  However i do agree  its better to discuss things with our partners or support rather than keep silent there.

All these worked at painful times and I thank God for showing me.

I found this website searching for signs from God, as much as I enjoy the bible versus. I am still lost, cause all the signs are leading me the opposite direction of my husband. He abandoned me, but I still love him, because he is ill. I believe in the marriage sacrements, but I feel that God is telling me that I need to be happy and that would be without my husband. I was happy, I don’t understand. After reading these versus and comments. I believe I will put my burdens on him, but again fear is blinding me, because I am afraid that he will make the wrong choice. Right now I feel I want my husband back, no matter the cost.

I am in my mid. 30s, I am feeling a little low lately, a breakup with my boyfriend a year ago still haunts me with painful memories. I feel so alone sometimes. Also seeing family, close friends going through a hard time with work, relationships, health problems, bereavement makes me feel helpless.

I was looking for verses for encouragement & am so happy i found this site.
I am particularly touched by this verse
“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” – Phil 4:19

Thank you for posting this verses – you never know how far these can reach & how much it can touch someone going through a difficult time. Thank you for those who have shared – that has been very encouraging too. To those who are feeling a little low, let’s not forget to pray for one another too.

Let’s ask God to help protect us from negative thoughts & help us stay focused on casting our cares on Him & obeying Him. Let’s not forget to read & study His Word too – we need this spiritual food. Let’s not forget to reach out to say a prayer to those who are in need, even in our own times of trouble.

I have been out of work for almost two years (I work as a secretary within the education field for eight years). I came across this website in search for scripture to encourage me in my times of discouragement. I am married with three kids, 21-19-12, my husband is getting to the point to where he’s becoming overwhelmed with our financial status. I am signed on with five temp agencies and no work, I look at different sites for job posting and submit my resume or fill out a job application, still no luck. My self esteem is being effected, I am in church on Sundays and Wednesday. I am still believing that God will supply all my need and that I am a new creature predestined for greatness. (II Corinthians 5:17). I Can Do All Things Through Christ Who Strengthens Me (Philippians 4:13). I have the word to stand on and believe God that things will change my situation. I really believe that my test that I am encountering now will be a testimony.

I came across this website today as I have been going through in marriage (I now see how God is answering my prayers). I thank God for leading me here to get encouragement and strenght from all of all of us who wrote our comments on this post as well as to encourage someone else who is in need. I thank the Lord for speaking through so many of us. He uses us as His voice to help one another. The wonderful thing is that we have God to help us while going through our trials. But it is another thing to go through trials and not have Him. We as christians know that he will bring us safely through on the other side (the winning side). God has never lost a case! So when I look back and see where he has brought me from. I know that He was the same God then, and He is the same God now. So each day, I pray about my marriage, and I can see the handy work of God. Remember He is always working behind the scenes. We just can’t see it. So just keep the faith in God and He will bring it to pass. What so ever you ask the Father in my (Jesus) name, He will do it. You might not get your answer today, but It will be on time according to God’s will. Everyone let’s continue to pray for one another and keep the faith.

Today is one of those days where I would just like to be somewhere that I could just cry. I am not really sure whats wrong with me, but I feel sad in my life right know. I feel like I just cant get it right. I am a believer in God and he is my savior. I have been through trials and tribulations, I had lost my sons father in 2006 and I am feeling that the anxiety is coming back very strong. I pray that this leaves me and I was always told “You have not because you asked not” I am trusting in you lord to take this anxiety away from me.
I was also looking for some encourageing words and I want to thank everyone for their testimony. I am praying for everyone!

I couldn’t sleep last night, as I was suffering from anxiety. So many thoughts were racing through my mind. About my job, marriage and mostly because of a friend of mine that is suffering. She is in an abusive relationship with her husband. She faces losing her job. She is the sole provider for her family that she sends money to overseas. She had a 10 year old son that sometimes gets caught in the middle of his mom and his step dads arguments. She wants her marriage to be saved, but her husband isn’t a believer. She doesn’t believe in divorce and prays constantly that God will provide grace to her and her son and heal her marriage.
Last night I was desperate. I found this blog and was reminded of God’s power. I asked myself if God can get her through this? After reading everyone’s testimony, I know he can.
Please friends, pray for my friend, her son, and salvation of this marriage. God can move mountains, right? He can certainy work a miracle in this situation.
Amen.

Lord
You are patient, merciful and kind. Yet, you are just. I have seen you more clearly in these troubles you have allowed to come upon me. Because of these troubles, I have run to your throne of grace. And you have heard me. I love you.

Isaiah 41:10. I have not read this verse in a VERY long time. I have been having a difficult week, and with that I found myself googling top verses for strength, encouragment, and love. I found this website and when I read that, I honestly broke into tears. It was EXACTLY what I needed to read and what I needed to hear from God. He is so wonderful and I know that He does everything with reason. But at my age (barely 19), it is sometimes hard to realize that and even more so, believe it. God is so good, and he does so much for us. So much that we often don’t realize that while we may be having a bad week, or a bad day He is always near. The sunshine, the stranger who smiled at us, the little things that go without notice; are all God, in His own way brightening our day, little by little. God has big plans for us. And sometimes the path He has chosen has speedbumps, but He does it to make us stronger and to make us better, and more holy.
Thank you so much for posting this verse. I know that God sent me here for that exact reason, to read that to help uplift my spirits. :)

Lord, you hear our calls, right?
When is enough, enough?
Please Lord, I am desperate for you to show signs of your love to my sister in Christ, Mary. She loves you, but is so often haunted by Satan’s attack. Please let her see that you are filling her cup.

I am constantly arguing with my husband and dont enjoy being around him. We no longer pray together and he very rarely encourages us to be in Christian fellowship. We have a son to raise, but I feel like I’m on my own sometimes in Christian parenting. I’m tired of doing this alone. Many times in my head I tell myself I want to give up.

If God promises to meet our needs…then why are there people STARVING to death every day? :(

Reply

John Frainee October 21, 2011 at 10:07 pm

God didn’t promise us that we wouldn’t have to endure suffering or death in this life. It’s important to consider the context of Philippians 4:19. I suggest looking up Philippians 4.

TO: KY The reason why people are STARVING is because of SELFISHNESS

I think we all tend to forget that God’s plan isn’t always ours. NEVER losing the faith means that when tragedy strikes, rough roads come around or we just can’t seem to get ahead – that maybe He is having to knock us off our game a little bit to make sure we haven’t gotten off His track. We’re allowed to feel emotions, he has blessed us with them. I’ve learned that crying and screaming and getting mad is fine, welcome even! But getting back down on our knees and telling God that you’re ready for whatever comes is the most important thing. Do we not all look back at those trying times and realize the lesson we learned? I’m so thankful that’s He’s already figured out what’s ahead and pray we all continue to keep the faith. TRUSTING in Him means never questioning his promise to us.

Life is short,it is a gift from God and it didn’t happen just by incident that you are born in this ages, everyone here has a purpose from God and you have to find out yourself and never move your desire along the evilness of the world;anything else that is considered as sinful act in the sight of God will be judge!

this was of comfort tonite. I have forgotten that my situation could be much worse than it is and i am truly blessed with all that i have. I have been putting my trust in a person about a job offer when i should be putting my trust in God that he will intervene and help. Thank God that i found this site, that i read the comments listed, that calm has come over me, I was then able to pray and ask God for his help and that i will sleep like a baby tonite knowing I did everthing that I could but that I must leave the worries aside and let God clear the path to what he wants done:)
